Happy 13th Birthday Rachel!
Rachel becomes a teenager today and we have several exciting items to report:
Thank you to all who attended the Celebration a couple weeks ago. It was fun to see everyone, share stories, and rejoice in God’s mighty work. Thank you as well to everyone who generously gave to the three organizations so close to our hearts: Prayer Servant, Camp Gilead and Children’s Hospital. And we are pleased to report that the beautifully decorated “Thank You” posters were delivered and hung at the Rehab, Surgical and Neurosurgery departments at Children’s.
Rachel’s checkup with the Neurosurgery team went better than expected! (Seems to be a running theme…) The MRI showed the cerebellum expanding back into the space that was occupied by the tumor, and normal sized ventricles. Her body has adapted well to the shunt and is not solely relying on it, but is also absorbing some of the fluid on its own. The doctors were pleased with how well the rehab is progressing and how quickly Rachel is healing.
And our last little bit of good news… Rachel has graduated from Speech Therapy! Her last appointment was October 27th. For the time being she will continue Physical and Occupational Therapy.
With gratitude,
The Weaver Family
