SCAN TIME….NO SEDATION….YAH! YAH! YAH!
Can I just say first off…
* This is from today meeting with the www.wekeepscore.org guild who raises money for Childhood cancer research! Love them!
I LOVE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL! They are so wonderful, they did so many beautiful wonderful things to make this process easy & fun for Alexis!!!!
The day started with arriving and drinking the contrast, and playing games to do so. We of course brought “Rosabella” with us all day.
Yesterday’s injection was great, no tears, all bravery, great nurses and staff. WE ARE SO BLESSED!
A phone call to daddy & Austin to say we were doing alright and having fun….
When we were waiting to go back 2 hours later, hungry, the anesthesia team had another situation to deal with which was putting our schedule later and it’s a timed thing.
I asked the nurse what we could do, she said that we needed to start an IV, and get her injected with her IV Contrast…
Alexis said “I CAN DO THAT, I’M NOT AFRAID, LET’S GO….I’M READY TO GET THAT IV NOW!”
After the first attempt with a blown vein, Alexis said “That’s OK, I have another hand for you, try this one!”
(Did I mention no tears, no fear….)
Then she walked into the CT and said “I can do this, no mask right now, OK?”
And she did it!!!! Now it was time for the hour and a half MIBG scan….Anesthesia was ready for her, but she said “Let me try!” Guess what??????? SHE DID IT!!!!
Because we weren’t going for bone marrow this time, she didn’t have to be sedated.
They said she is by far one of the youngest most brave children they have ever seen. WE HAD NO TEARS ALL DAY!
The machine, if you look close moved around her body and she looked like a squished pancake! Glad she’s not claustrophobic! I couldn’t have done it! She’s my hero!
The 3 year old remained still (completely still) for 2 1/2 hours!!!!!! I am so proud of her!
She got her popsicle and we held hands and ran out of that hospital together very giddy!
How great to run out, instead of carrying her loopy and out of it for hours! Thank you Lord!
Oh, i guess you might have checked this site for the results, not a blow by blow….well….
THE SCANS ARE STABLE! more than stable! The MIBG only showed 1 tumor and it is NO BIGGER.
WE GRADUATED!!!!! We’ll scan again in JULY 2010…..I am on cloud 9!
We have promises of hope for now, and medically speaking WE ARE IN A GREAT PLACE! Thank you Lord for all your gifts these past 2 days! We love you and tonight we celebrate!!!!
You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a blessing! You all are AMAZING!!!!!
That is so great that you could turn it into a children’s story to help other kids be brave. Has Alexis ever thought of writing a book with you?
Thanking God with gratitude and joy, and sending love and HOORAYs!!!
Jill what an amazing day for you and Alexis to NOT have the sedation. I really can not imagine doing that, she is so BRAVE and a super Star for sure. She deserves lots of congrats for staying still that long. I can’t even stay still that long myself. She sure is patient. Great kid, you have to be so very proud. I am so happy for you all. Stable is super to hear. Thanks you Jesus. JOdale

Oh, Jill, what wonderful news! And I have NEVER, in 30+ yrs, seen a 3 yr old be still for that long! That is REALLY the Holy Spirit’s calmness in that little girl! I was so happy to see you thru the glass, a whole floor away - that was special!
Praising God for all His blessings!!
Praise God! What an amazing couple of days for both of you! She is certainly worthy of praise for her bravery and her patience! Way to go, Alexis! Praising God and celebrating with you, friends! Loved the blow by blow and the results. I am SOOOOO impressed that she didn’t have to be sedated. Samara hasn’t had to be sedated for her CTs for a long time, but those are only a few minutes long. 2.5 hours is out of this world. Thank you, God, for the peace that you placed in Alexis’s heart and mind and body. And thank you, God, for the normalcy/stability!!!!! Love, the De Jonges.
Praise God that a 3 year old is so brave and able to understand and make the right choices. Our God is Good and still in the miracle business. July 2010 is good news you have 6th months to do all the normal things. Keep us posted and thanks so much for the neat report. Vera Blake
