To my sweet Alexis on her 2^nd Birthday (tomorrow), 

 

Oh, the joy you have brought our home.  The joy you have brought anyone who has spent time with you.  You are truly a GIFT from God.

In your 2 short years of life, you have taught me so many life lessons.  You’ve taught me not to sweat the small stuff, you have taught me what true strength means, you have taught me how to rely on God, and brought our family and so many others together.

You have made me laugh harder than I ever have, you are amazing! I am so thankful for every day God has given us with you.  We are so blessed! 

You are so beautiful, of course on the outside, but more importantly you are so incredibly beautiful within!  You are so kind, even when you are in one of your tantrums, you are still polite as you scream “No Thank you!” 

 I love watching you kiss your sister good night every night, I love how when we leave the room, you have to scream “I love you Austin!” 

 I love that you tease all of us, by putting the wrong colors together of blocks, just to make us laugh and pretend that you don’t know!  I love that you say “Austin Douglas”, when I ask you your name.  I love that you enjoy dancing & singing all the time. I love that you tell me “NO MOMMY- LEXI SING” when I start to join you on a song.  I love that you make us go hide, and then you yell “1…2…3…ta ta tum!”(here I come) and then you leave us hiding, and think it is so funny when we finally catch on!  I love that you say at least 50 times a day “LEXI DO IT!”  I love that when I ask you what color red is, you say “BLUE!” with that twinkle in your eye and then giggle at me.

I love that your spirit is so strong, that you can get stuck in a tantrum, and go on for 30 minutes, no matter what I do to try and calm you; it’s that fighting spirit that has brought you thru all you’ve been thru in life.

I am so happy that this birthday, we will get to honor you the way you deserve.  That so much time has passed and you act as if you know nothing of what you’ve endured. 

Someday I hope to read this to you, you deserve the world!  Our time was supposed to be short with you, but God had a different plan.  No amount of time would be enough!

Not a day goes by, that I don’t celebrate you!  I admire your bravery, and your strength, if you can be as strong as you are, I promise to try and do the same.

Your birthday tomorrow is so much more than just a 2 year old birthday; it is a celebration of your LIFE!  I am so happy and thankful for you!

Thank you for every day of joy sweet Alexis, thank you Jesus, I won’t take it for granted!
