“Alexis, you made a liar out of me!”
We just got home from the hospital from getting a blood draw, to see where her counts went…
We came home Saturday, because her counts were ok. We expected they may have dropped by today. Well Great NEWS!
They said the chemo was still efficient because she had to have a blood transfusion on Sat. and will probably need a platelet transfusion tomorrow. So, again…I was wrong, but more importantly THEY were wrong!
The doctor, who is a top specialist in the country on Neuroblastoma said today….
“Alexis, you’ve made a liar out of me!â€
They said she would get a horrible fever…she didn’t!
They said she would quit eating…she hasn’t!
They said she would be hospitalized with an infection this time….she didn’t!
They said she would get mouth sores….she didn’t!
They said this would all lead to a NG tube probably…it didn’t!
That she would lose weight…she gained!
Not too mention that she ate more thru this harder chemotherapy, than any treatment before.
She is officially out of the “window†for all this to happen. One of the doctors said she’d never seen this before, that this has her totally perplexed. Alexis did have a rough time with the vomiting, but she kept eating thru it all and gained weight! She is still a little nauseas, but is overall doing wonderfully.
They reassured me, that just because she didn’t have all the horrible side effects, that doesn’t mean the chemo didn’t do its job, obviously it affected all her cells (red & white) and her bone marrow, in some way, because she needs the transfusions.
So, again the power of prayer can change the situations! Thank you for praying for all of these horrible side effects, and thank you God for keeping her so unbelievably strong and healthy thru it all!
By the way, she is a little comedian; she has been making faces and fake coughing to get us to respond, and loves reaching out for toys, and Austin’s face! She has changed and grown up so much this last week, in spite of it all! She is wonderful!
She starts new chemo next week, round 4, before we re-test again. The doctor said again…This time she will surely get mouth sores, etc…..
We’ll see about that!
Thank you Jesus for answering our prayers!
